General Submission Guidelines

Yemassee publishes all genres and forms of writing, including poetry, fiction, drama, nonfiction, reviews, and interviews. We publish in the fall and spring, printing three to five stories and twelve to fifteen poems per issue. We tend to solicit reviews, essays, and interviews but welcome unsolicited queries. We do not favor any particular aesthetic or school of writing. Quality of writing is our only concern.

Works may now be submitted online at http://yemassee.submishmash.com/

Please limit any submission to 7,500 words.

Response time generally ranges from one to four months.

Contributors receive 2 copies of the issue in which their work appears.

Yemassee acquires first-time North American rights. Copyright reverts to authors upon publication.

Simultaneous submissions are accepted, given that you identify them as such on your cover letter and immediately notify us if the submission is accepted elsewhere.

We do not consider any work that has been previously published in any form, print or electronic.

Address your manuscripts to the appropriate genre editor. Include a cover letter with your contact information (including email address) and a SASE with sufficient postage. NO MANUSCRIPTS WILL BE RETURNED.
